Elgala Passage, between the two Daimaru department stores, will be the main area for the festival. Craft events will be held at IMS and Kego Shrine. 20 local organizations and 200 volunteers are involved in the festival. They have planned a kimono fashion show, Japanese culture seminars and an Hina Doll auction to find homes for pre-loved dolls. The auction will be held Mar 1 from 13:00. The theme for the event is \u2018Japanese Style\u2019 and 54 shops in the Shintencho, the Chikagai and in other areas Tenjin will be be offering discounts or gifts to shoppers who are wearing a kimono. Hina Dolls are traditional ornamental dolls, first displayed in the Heian Period (794~1185).<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/fukuoka-now.com\/event\/tenjin-hina-doll-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\">Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Event 2 ::: <a href=\" http:\/\/fukuoka-now.com\/event\/tulip-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tulip Festival<\/a> 3\/2 (Sat.) ~ 4\/7 (Sun.) @ Huis Ten Bosch<\/strong><br \/>\nSee 550 varieties of blooming tulips at this annual festival &#8211; the largest array in Japan! HTB is the perfect setting for tulip viewing, with its Dutch windmills and church. Other attractions include a flower market, and 3D projection show \u201cThe Revival of the Dragon\u201d.<br \/>\n<a href=\" http:\/\/fukuoka-now.com\/event\/tulip-festival\/\" target=\"_blank\">Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Event 3 ::: <a href=\"http:\/\/fukuoka-now.com\/event\/were-gonna-go-dancing-vol-3-\u8e0a\u308a\u306b\u884c\u304f\u305c\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018We\u2019re Gonna Go Dancing!!\u2019 vol.3<\/a> 3\/2 (Sat.) @ IMS Hall (9F)<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2018We\u2019re Gonna Go Dancing!!\u2019 is a lively festival which has been running every year since 2000. It was reborn in 2009 with a new emphasis on producing new work and reenergizing the performing arts across Japan. The festival contains four pieces. \u2018House the Homeless\u2019 directed by Kamiiketakuya and \u2018MuDA G\u2019 by the Kyoto based prize winning group \u2018QUICK\u2019 are both original collaborations by artists working together for the first time. QUICK\u2019s prize winning shows involve an interdisciplinary use of dance, multimedia and martial arts and their latest piece is themed around nuclear fission, life, death and the universe. \u2018Fragile World\u2019, a piece about darkness in modern society, was created by bringing established choreographer Kakuya Ohashi to a local city to live and work with local artists. Selected by a panel of judges, the final, jazzy piece \u2018I\u2019m another you\u2019, presented by a Fukuoka based group called \u2018In Lake ch\u2019 promises \u2018one chair, one table and 16 limbs\u2019. DOME<\/strong><br \/>\nFukuoka Dome will be the stage of Pool A\u2019s first-round games in the 2013 World Baseball Classic (WBC) qualifier, Mar 2~6. The four teams competing in Fukuoka are: Japan, Brazil, Cuba and China. The 2013 WBC will see 28 teams enter, up from 16 in 2006 and 2009. The first-round games will be in a round-robin format, with the second-round being double elimination. Tokyo will be one of the locations for second-round games, and the semi-finals and final will take place in San Francisco, USA. Six players from the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks have been selected to join Japan\u2019s team for the World Baseball Classic 2013 tournament. Japan\u2019s team for the series has a total of 34 members, including the following Hawks players: Tadashi Settsu (pitcher), Kenji Odonari (pitcher), Mitsuhiko Morifuku (pitcher), Nobuhiro Matsuda (infield), Yuichi Honda (infield), and Seiichi Uchikawa (outfield). Like cultural exchange and want to DO something about it? This \u201cskills auction\u201d consists of volunteers auctioning off a talent which they want to share with you! Examples include: a beginner scuba diving session, Tahitian dance lessons, Spanish conversation class, a tour of Takayama and Shirakawa, and so much more! There will be plenty of live entertainment including hula dance performances and a DJ, Hawaiian-themed festivities to celebrate the Fukuoka-Hawaii sister state relationship, food and drink as well as a Hawaiian-outfit contest. Participants in ceremonial court robes sit along the stream composing waka poems, as cups of sake are set afloat. When the cups reach them they must hand over the poem and drink the cup. Secure your seat early!<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/fukuoka-now.com\/event\/kyokusui-no-en-festival-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Read more<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Event 7 ::: <a href=\"http:\/\/fukuoka-now.com\/event\/aitaka-bridge-opening-event\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aitaka Bridge Opening Event <\/a> 3\/3 (Sun.) @ Aitaka Bridge, Kashiiteriha 1-Chome<\/strong><br \/>\nAitaka Bridge, a recreational pedestrian bridge connecting Kashii, Higashi-ku with Island City is set to open on Mar. 3 (Sun) with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. At 430 m in length and with four rest points, the bridge over the Mishima Strait lets walkers leisurely enjoy nature\u2019s beauty and is Japan\u2019s longest trans-sea pedestrian bridge. Once open, it will be part of 3 km of walking paths along the coast and around Island City. After the Aitaka Bridge ribbon-cutting ceremony on Mar. 3, you are invited to walk the 3 km of paths around Mishima Strait. Walkers are asked to gather at the grassy area next to \u201cgaishu ryokuchi\u201d in Kashiiteriha 1-Chome. Attendance is free of charge and no registration is required.
