Mudslides, floods, and rising rivers have occurred in some regions of Saga Prefecture, Fukuoka Prefecture and Nagasaki Prefecture, resulting in the issuance of the highest alert level (five) by the agency. Rainfall in Saga exceeded 100 millimeters per hour in the morning and marked the record-heaviest since records were first kept. Heavy rain will continue nationwide for the next twenty-four hours. Please take all common-sense precautions, including staying away from all rivers and hillsides. Monitor local news and keep in contact with your neighbors, colleagues at work, or schools.
