Fukuoka Prefecture and a Kurume-based startup agreed to co-develop a medication for the treatment of the new coronavirus. <\/span>Bonac Corporation<\/span><\/a>, a biotechnology company specialized in nucleic acids, aims to bring a new inhalable drug onto the market within the next three years. Direct delivery of the drug to the patient’s lungs could reduce the risk of side effects compared to injections of remdesivir and anti-flu drug Avigan. On May 18, no new case of COVID-19 infection was found in the prefecture. The cumulative total of the virus infection remains at 658.
