The Kyushu Tourism Promotion Organization announced that it would take at least two years for the consumption volume to return to the pre-corona levels. According to the Kyushu Tourism Promotion Organization, it is estimated that tourism consumption in Kyushu this year will be halved from last year to 1.4 trillion yen. After “Lehman Shock,” it took about a year for the tourism industry to recover, but this time there will be more economic damage, and it will be 2022 at the earliest that it will return to the same consumption amount as last year. As a measure to revitalize Kyushu tourism, free “online tours” where guides guide through tourist destinations using the Internet will be used to strengthen information dissemination. “We hope to connect with tourists participating in the GoTo campaign started by national government agencies,” said Susumu Ishihara, Chairman of the Kyushu Tourism Promotion Organization.
