On July 30, Fukuoka Prefecture recorded 121 daily new cases of novel coronavirus infections. The prefectural governor, Hiroshi Ogawa, stated he would maintain a very high level of alertness while monitoring the situation. Seventy-five of the new cases were found in Fukuoka City, including a suspected cluster at a kindergarten in Minami Ward. While there were no patients with severe symptoms, the region faces a growing fear that the virus might spread again amongst its older adults. To reduce such a risk, the medical association of Fukuoka Prefecture requested patients stay at designated hotels even if they show no or only mild symptoms.
