The center will be housed in a new building to be built next to its head office and industrial robot plant in Kitakyushu. The company aims to cluster the development functions it has throughout Japan in one location and bring together around 600 engineers to work on robot and motor development. Within the Technology Center, Yaskawa also plans to open an Open Innovation Center, which will bring together knowledge and skills from a variety of fields under one roof.
