On January 6, Fukuoka Prefecture reported a record-setting 316 cases of the new coronavirus infection. The daily count soared past the previous record of 190, which was set on December 30, 2020. New patients were found in Fukuoka City (165), Kitakyushu City (64), Kurume City (10), and other municipalities (77). The cumulative total is now 9,980.
