Mieko Hoshino (former member of Fukuoka City Assembly) and Seitaro Hattori (current Fukuoka Vice Governor) are running for the gubernatorial election for the first time. Seventy-year-old Hoshino calls for change from the Ogawa administration; she insists on the need for more initiatives in preventing the new coronavirus spread and is also passionate to promote gender equality. Sixty-six-year-old Hattori is eager to continue the Ogawa administration’s legacy and stresses the importance of avoiding any political confusions or slowdowns during challenging times. He also intends to boost the space business and biotech industry. Voting is scheduled for April 11, while the administration commission encourages early voting to prevent congestions.
