While the prefecture has seen a gradual decline in the number of daily cases, weekly counts of COVID-19 infections remain at a high. As of May 24, the number of new patients per 100,000 population during the past week reached 46.94 in Fukuoka, whereas Tokyo stood at 32.09 and Osaka 31.75.
