Team Fukuoka, the joint organization, established in 2020 to create an international financial center in Fukuoka, held a general meeting on Nov. 4. The closed session introduced seven international firms and companies that have announced plans to locate in Fukuoka in the past six months. The president and CEO of Nishi-Nippon Railroad (Nishitetsu) Sumio Kuratomi was appointed the group’s new chairperson. Kuratomi told the media that Team Fukuoka would expand its target area and seek member organizations from across Kyushu from now on, as the positive effect of having many multinational financial functions in Fukuoka would reach other prefectures too.
