On Jan. 19, Fukuoka Prefecture reported 2,208 new cases of the new coronavirus infection. The regional daily count topped two thousand for the first time, and more than half were found in Fukuoka City. Today, the prefecture will hold a meeting to prepare for a request to implement shorter business hours at local eateries after Jan. 24. Once such a business request takes effect, restaurants <\/span>without<\/b> the prefecture\u2019s COVID-safety recognitions would close at 20:00, while restaurants <\/span>with<\/b> those recognitions would be able to operate until 21:00 and serve liquor, too. Also, the total daily count of COVID-19 infections in the entire Kyushu stood at 4,298 on Jan. 19.
