On Jan. 24, Fukuoka Prefecture formally requested the implementation of a strict COVID-19 control program (<\/span>mann-enn boushi to juten sochi<\/span><\/i>) to the national government, along with the prefectures of Saga and Oita. The move indicates that the measurement will take effect in all Kyushu prefectures in the coming few days. In Fukuoka, <\/span>requests for reduced business hours at eateries<\/span><\/a> are also in effect on the same day. The latest daily count of the new coronavirus infections stood at 2,646, surpassing two thousand for five days consecutive days. The regional occupancy rate of secured hospital beds has soared to 19.7% by Jan. 22. (the criteria for implementing the \u2018Fukuoka Corona Special Warning\u2019 is 30%.) Reflecting on the quick spread of the virus, Fukuoka Prefecture now intends to have more patients with mild or no symptoms be treated at home.
