Some demand the company abandon plans to eliminate staff from some stations. Outsourcing station management to municipal governments or other organizations is possible for ten Fukuoka, Saga, Kumamoto, and Oita stations. For example, in Oita, a group of former JR Kyushu employees may conduct in-person ticket sales and station cleaning. Also, Kiyama Town of Saga Prefecture intends to appropriate a budget of ¥1.3 million to assign town staff to Keyakidaira Station. Safety operations, including support for passengers with disabilities, will still be conducted by JR Kyushu staff standing by at the nearest offices. Details will be announced on station posters and fixed on one. Source: JR Kyushu / NHK / Saga Shimbun

Disclaimer: Fukuoka Now posts summaries of Kyushu area news for those who cannot read Japanese.
