Most of the PET bottles collected in Fukuoka City have been recycled into other products such as food trays. Few companies in the city have the technology to recycle used PET bottles back into PET bottles. However, to reduce plastic waste, the city will begin a pilot program next month to recycle the bottles as PET bottles for repeated use.
