Kyushu Electric Power has been investigating underground hot water and steam conditions in the northeastern part of Mount Eboshidake in Kirishima City since 1998 and, as a result, received consent from the city this month to construct a geothermal power plant. Construction work is scheduled to begin in June of next year, with operations at the end of the fiscal year 2024.
