JR Kyushu (Fukuoka City) announced on May 26 that it would operate its passenger ship “Queen Beetle” between Hakata and Nagasaki in July and August. The company aims to boost tourism in Nagasaki in anticipation of the opening of the West Kyushu Shinkansen in September. Each day, one round trip will be made on July 16 and August 11. The one-way trip takes 3 hours and 40 minutes and costs 11,000 yen per adult. The company plans to offer a business class service (an additional 3,500 yen each way), including snacks and beverages offered on international routes. The Queen Beetle was scheduled to operate between Hakata and Busan, South Korea, but has been suspended due to the spread of the coronavirus.
