Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine will undergo a major renovation in<\/span> 2023<\/span>, and the shrine’s main hall will be under construction from next spring. On November 22, a completed drawing of the temporary hall set up for worshippers during this period was unveiled to the public. The main hall of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, a nationally important cultural property, will undergo a 3-year renovation starting next May to mark the 1,125th anniversary of the death of Sugawara no Michizane. This will be the first major renovation in <\/span>124<\/span> years. To revive the beautiful appearance of the main hall for the future, all the cypress bark will be re-thatched and lacquered, and disaster prevention work will also be carried out during the “2025 Great Repair”.
