On the 7th of this month, a debilitated whooper swan at Uminonakamichi Seaside Park in Fukuoka City was examined, and a simple test confirmed that it tested positive for avian influenza. The park has closed the animal forest area where the birds are kept for disinfection and is continuing to monitor the health of about 140 other birds. The park will not cull the birds at this stage and will continue to close the area and continue disinfection and health observation until the end of the year.
