They are providing 50 vehicles from Future (Tokyo, Minato-ku), a company in which QTnet has invested, free of charge. The project aims to verify the usage of these vehicles by students and faculty, and to improve the convenience of travel and promote tourism in the surrounding area.

The electric three-wheeled bike used in the demonstration experiment is Future’s “GOGO!R.” The vehicle has two front wheels and one rear wheel, with a basket for luggage located behind the seat. The bike measures 130 cm in length, 60 cm in width, and 101 cm in height, and weighs 25 kg. The maximum speed is 45 km/h, but it will be limited to 30 km/h within the campus for safety reasons. A regular driver’s license is required for use.

The electric three-wheeled bikes can be used for free, 24 hours a day, until June 30th. Eight ports have been set up on the campus and at the Fukuoka City Industry-Academia Collaboration Exchange Center (Fukuoka City), which is close to the university. To ride the bike, users need to scan the QR code attached to the bike using a smartphone app, which then turns on the power. Source: QT Net / Nikkei

Stay informed with the latest Fukuoka & Kyushu news and events in English.
