In an effort to raise awareness about road safety during the spring season, police officers in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, have taken a unique approach. As part of the Spring Traffic Safety Campaign running from May 11th to May 20th, officers have been distributing local gourmet Kurume ramen at the “Michi no Eki Kurume” station to encourage accident prevention. The campaign was organized in response to the doubling of traffic-related fatalities in the region compared to the same period last year. The distributed ramen packets symbolize the determination to achieve zero accidents from this point forward. In a similar vein, the city of Okawa, known for its furniture industry, organized a driving seminar for the elderly on the first day of the campaign. The event saw the distribution of local Kamaboko (fish cake), aligning with the event’s catchphrase, which translates to “Learn driving in the city of furniture, prevent accidents.” The seminar, aimed at reducing elderly-related accidents, allowed attendees to receive practical advice from police officers, including parking exercises. <\/span>Source: <\/b>NHK<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n
