This initiative is part of the government’s new ‘Childcare Accessible to All’ scheme and was inaugurated on the 6th at the Soreiyu Garden Nursery in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, where a multi-purpose space designed to care for children was revealed.

Parents are able to leave their children at the nursery from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM for one or two days a week, even if they’re not working. Each day, the nursery can accommodate up to ten children. Families receiving welfare support can use the service free of charge, while other households are required to pay a flat fee of 1,000 yen per visit.

In addition to the Soreiyu Garden Nursery, the pilot scheme will also be introduced at the Little World Ayumi Nursery in Chuo Ward, and the Minamikatae Nursery in Jonan Ward. Parents who are interested in utilizing these services can apply directly by phone to the desired nursery.

Applications will be accepted from the 12th of this month and the pilot program will be implemented from August this year until March of next year. Mr. Masataka Haruta, director of the Soreiyu Garden Nursery, expressed his desire to support all children in the area, not just those enrolled in his nursery, as he believes that some mothers may feel isolated in their childcare roles. Source: Fukuoka City / NHK

Stay informed with the latest Fukuoka & Kyushu news and events in English.
