Numerous metallic reactions have been confirmed in the surrounding waters, prompting concerned authorities to consider detailed investigations and disposal methods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The explosives were found off the coast of the Hibikinada district in Wakamatsu Ward. The area is planned to house 25 large-scale wind turbines as part of an offshore wind power facility, with foundational work scheduled to start this October.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During preliminary seabed surveys near Wakita Beach, eight potential explosive devices, some measuring up to 1.6 meters long, were found 4 to 7 kilometers off the coast. A magnetic survey also revealed 190 locations with metal reactions. The Maritime Self-Defense Force, in cooperation with Kitakyushu City and the Japan Coast Guard, is planning the safe detonation and disposal of these items.
