Fukuoka Prefecture saw an average increase of 4.5% at its surveyed sites, marking the second-highest growth rate across the country. This rise in prices is largely due to the redevelopment in central Fukuoka city. The rosenka is an evaluation value per square meter of land facing major roads across Japan, determined by the National Tax Agency as of January 1st. It is used as a standard for calculating inheritance and gift taxes.

According to this year’s rosenka published on July 3rd, the average of approximately 10,000 surveyed sites in Fukuoka Prefecture rose by 4.5% from last year. This rate of increase is the second highest in the country, following Hokkaido. The price rise can be attributed to the ongoing redevelopment in central Fukuoka city and strong demand for housing in Fukuoka city and surrounding areas.

The highest increase was seen in Kurume city, East Town, on “Nishitetsu Kurume Station Front Street,” which saw a 19.1% increase. It is becoming increasingly popular due to its good access to the central area of Fukuoka city. The second place was “Peace Street” in Kokura Kita Ward, Kitakyushu city, with a 15.9% increase, followed by “Kasuga Station Front Street” in Kasuga Hara Kita Ward, Kasuga city, with a 14.7% increase. The highest-priced location was Watanabe Street in Tenjin 2-chome, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka city, where Fukuoka Parco is located, with a price of 90.4 million yen. Source: NHK / National Tax Agency

Stay informed with the latest Fukuoka & Kyushu news and events in English.
