In anticipation of the “2024 problem,” an expected significant shortfall of truck drivers, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) in Japan has established a team called the “Truck G-Men.” This initiative is designed to oversee freight owners and subcontractors to improve the working conditions for truck drivers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in the Kyushu Transport Bureau, official appointments have been issued to 18 personnel who have joined the Truck G-Men initiative. During the appointment ceremony on the 21st, attended by six members, Director of the Bureau Takahiro Yoshinaga called for efforts to better the economy and life via sustainable logistics.<\/span><\/p>\n

The “2024 problem” in the logistics industry refers to the impending truck driver shortage, expected to arise from stricter overtime work regulations starting next April. To mitigate this, the Truck G-Men will ensure that drivers aren’t subjected to excessive wait times and that fares accurately reflect personnel and fuel costs.
