Company President Koichi Hayashida cited a growing shortage of bus drivers and long-term challenges forecasted for 2024 as reasons for the change. In Fukuoka, weekday service on 17 routes will see a 1.6% cut, translating to 186 fewer runs. In Kitakyushu, 11 routes will experience a 1.9% service reduction on weekdays. The adjustments are being made due to the aging workforce of drivers and upcoming changes to drivers&#8217; maximum allowable work hours starting next April.
