Fukuoka City has announced an expansion of its childcare support policy, which will now include high school students starting from January next year. This program currently limits out-of-pocket expenses for medical visits to 500 yen per medical institution per month for children from the age of three to middle school. Additionally, hospitalization costs for children up to middle school are covered for free.<\/span><\/p>\n

The city is also set to introduce new measures to reduce the financial burden on families using welfare services for children with disabilities. These measures, effective from January next year, will cap the maximum personal contribution based on the parents’ income, with the services being free for preschool children and up to 3,000 yen for school-aged children.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the same announcement, Mayor Takashima addressed recent incidents of Fukuoka City employees being arrested for molestation and voyeurism. The city has decided to treat such offenses with the same severity as drunk driving, resulting in immediate dismissal of the offenders.
