Fukuoka City announced the naming of a new landmark, the “One Fukuoka Bldg.,” formerly known as the New Fukuoka Building, which will serve as the headquarters for Nishi-Nippon Railroad. Slated for opening in the spring of 2025, the building has been affectionately nicknamed “One Bldg.” The announcement was made today, April 19, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new structure combines the existing Fuku Building, Tenjin Core, and Tenjin Vivre into a sprawling complex with a total floor area of approximately 147,000 square meters\u2014160% larger than the current Fuku Building. Embracing an eco-friendly ethos, the “One Fukuoka Bldg.” will feature advanced environmental technologies aimed at reducing annual primary energy consumption by about 42%.<\/span><\/p>\n

Designed by the renowned architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF), known for their work on Roppongi Hills Mori Tower and New York’s Hudson Yards, the building embodies the concept of an “Urban Oasis.” This theme is reflected in its extensive green spaces, both inside and out, creating a serene environment amidst the urban landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 19-story building (including four underground levels) is conceptualized as a “Creative Intersection,” a hub where diverse elements meet.<\/span><\/p>\n

It will house approximately 5,000 employees and is currently about 50% complete in its construction. The building layout includes:<\/span><\/p>\n

– Parking from B4 to B3F<\/span>
\n– Food, retail, and service spaces from B2 to B1F<\/span>
\n– Retail stores from 1F to 4F, featuring a mix of fashion, cosmetics, sports, books, and cafes<\/span>
\n– A dining hall on the 5F<\/span>
\n– A social and coworking space on the 6F, which includes Venture caf\u00e9 Fukuoka<\/span>
\n– The 7F houses CIC Fukuoka (Cambridge Innovation Center), a conference hall, and a banquet room managed by a hotel<\/span>
\n– Office spaces occupy the 8th to 17th floors, with units currently available for lease<\/span>
\n– The top two floors (18th and 19th) feature the One Fukuoka Hotel, offering 41 luxurious rooms, a rooftop caf\u00e9 bar, a teppanyaki restaurant, and extensive wellness facilities including a large bath, sauna, fitness center, and a library lounge. The hotel’s stylish interiors are designed by Hiroshi Nakamura, with management by Plan Do See.<\/span><\/p>\n

This ambitious project promises to be a cornerstone of innovation and sustainability in Fukuoka’s bustling Tenjin district.<\/span><\/p>\n
