A new museum dedicated to Daniel Inouye, a notable Japanese-American who served as a U.S. Senator and contributed significantly to Japan-U.S. relations, has been inaugurated in his father’s hometown of Yame City, Fukuoka. The Daniel Inouye Museum, located in <\/span>Joyo-<\/span>machi, Yame, was completed with a ceremony attended by 30 people including local officials and U.S. consulate representatives from Fukuoka. Born in Hawaii, Inouye was known for his valor as part of a Japanese-American military unit during World War II, despite losing his right arm, and his long tenure in the Senate until his death in 2012 at age 88. The two-story museum features 900 square meters of exhibits including personal memorabilia and details of his achievements. It also houses a caf\u00e9 blending local Yame ingredients with Hawaiian cuisine and a shop selling original merchandise. Admission to the museum, which opens on April 25, is free.
