The surge in auto exports to China and the U.S., along with robust semiconductor exports, drove the export value up by 12.2% from the same month last year to 1.391 trillion yen. This marks the 24th consecutive month of year-on-year export increases and the highest April figure since 1979. Conversely, imports fell by 3.5% to 894.2 billion yen, primarily due to reduced imports of coal and liquefied natural gas. Moji Customs noted the increase in auto exports as a key factor in the trade surplus but highlighted concerns over declining exports to the EU. Source: Moji Customs / NHK

Stay informed with the latest Fukuoka & Kyushu news and events in English.
