This year&#8217;s onset is the fourth latest on record, with the possibility of heavy rain continuing through the early morning of the 18th. The rainy season&#8217;s start is 13 days later than the average year and 19 days later than last year. Since records began in 1951, this is the fourth latest start. Typically, northern Kyushu exits the rainy season around July 19.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The observatory, along with the Kyushu Regional Development Bureau, held a press conference on the afternoon of the 17th, warning of potential heavy rains and related disasters, especially in southern Kyushu, from late night on the 17th through the morning of the 18th. There is a risk of linear rainbands forming in Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures, which could lead to significant rainfall.
