A Fukuoka construction company has developed and donated an underground rainwater storage tank, named “Tame Totto,” to the Fukuoka Botanical Garden. The tank, designed in collaboration with Kyushu University, can hold up to 45 tons of water and is part of international efforts to improve water access in Asia and Africa through UN Habitat.
\nThe tank, installed beneath the lawn area of the botanical garden, is not visible but serves as a significant water conservation tool. The installation process involved excavating a large area, lining it with waterproof sheets, and filling it with crushed stones to create the water storage space.
