The scam began in May 2024, when the man received a message from an individual claiming to be a Japanese woman living in Taiwan, connected to a British billionaire. After developing trust, the victim was convinced to invest in gold through a fraudulent app, eventually making 15 transfers of cryptocurrency. He realized the scam when asked to pay an additional \u00a56 million to withdraw his supposed profits.
