Fukuoka City Subway has begun a pilot program using AI and surveillance cameras to automatically detect abnormalities in station premises. The experiment, which started in September, will continue until the end of February next year at Hakata Station on the busy K\u016bk\u014d Line.<\/span><\/p>\n

The system aims to enhance security by quickly identifying suspicious individuals or incidents, such as passenger falls, on station platforms and near ticket gates. Ten new surveillance cameras have been installed on the ceilings of platforms and ticket gates. These cameras use AI to analyze passenger movements, and if an anomaly is detected, an alert sound is triggered in the station office to notify staff.<\/span><\/p>\n

The image analysis process has been designed to exclude any information that could identify individuals, such as facial features, to protect passenger privacy. The initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance safety and security at Fukuoka City Subway stations.<\/span><\/p>\n
