The plant will produce lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, which are cost-effective as they do not use rare metals. Scheduled to begin production by FY2028, the factory will support Nissan\u2019s goal to equip light EVs with advanced batteries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The facility, requiring a \u00a5153.3 billion investment, will have an annual production capacity of 5 GWh. Construction is set to take place in the Hibikinada district, an area known for its concentration of energy-related industries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This initiative aligns with Kitakyushu\u2019s growing role as a center for EV production. Nearby, Toyota is building a next-generation battery plant to supply its luxury Lexus EV line.
