On February 3, the city established an expert committee to examine the proposal, with tax collection expected to begin in fiscal 2026 at the earliest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the first committee meeting, Mayor Yasushiro Nagano emphasized the need to ensure that tourists find the tax reasonable and beneficial. Lodging taxes are a form of non-statutory local tax, and 11 municipalities in Japan have already implemented similar measures.
