The generator, with a capacity of 1,100 kW\u20142.2 times the previous model\u2014will begin testing off Goto City in February.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The device will be installed 40 meters underwater in the Naru Strait between Hisaka and Naru islands. Expected to generate approximately 2.41 million kWh annually, enough to power 800 households, the electricity will be fed into Kyushu Electric Power\u2019s grid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tidal energy, which utilizes ocean currents, offers stable power generation unaffected by weather conditions. While Europe leads in commercialization, Japan has yet to establish large-scale projects.
