Fukuoka Prefecture has introduced the “Fukuoka Wildlife Damage Prevention System,” a new online platform designed to mitigate damage caused by wild animals such as monkeys and wild boars. This initiative, the first of its kind in Japan, allows users to report sightings, including the time, location, and extent of damage, along with photos. The collected data is displayed on an interactive map in real time, enabling authorities to track animal movements and optimize capture efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The system, which began operation in January, aggregates statistics on captured animals by species and municipality. It is accessible for free via smartphones and computers without requiring personal information registration.<\/span><\/p>\n

In fiscal year 2023, Fukuoka Prefecture reported the second-highest agricultural damage in Japan due to wild animals, amounting to approximately \u00a5600 million. Additionally, 17 human injury cases occurred between April and December 2024.
