Selected from 364 entries in a nationwide design contest, the winning logo\u2014created by a designer in Tokyo\u2014features a red arc-shaped train over a stylized Kyushu map, symbolizing progress and regional aspirations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although designated as a basic plan route by the government in 1973, the East Kyushu Shinkansen lacks formal development plans.
