The annual count, commissioned by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, aims to support self-reliance among the homeless. Fukuoka City had the highest number at 114, followed by Kitakyushu with 36. Men made up the majority (140), with 14 women. Nearly half of those surveyed were living in commercial or port facilities, while urban parks accounted for about 29%.
