The 1,100-kilowatt generator, installed on the 40-meter-deep seabed between Hisaka and Naru Islands, began test operations earlier this year and is now connected to the local power grid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is Japan\u2019s first installation of a tidal generator with over 1,000 kW output. The annual output is estimated at 2.41 million kilowatt-hours, enough to power around 800 households.
