The hole measured roughly 1.5 meters in diameter and spanned both pedestrian and vehicle lanes. No injuries were reported. Authorities closed all four lanes of the road to prevent secondary incidents and are investigating the cause. Fukuoka City had been conducting sewage pipe installation work nearby, and officials are probing potential links to the collapse. Heavy rain, totaling 21 mm in one hour before the incident, may also be a contributing factor.
