The first infected carcass was discovered on August 12, followed by a second case on August 26 about 600 meters away. In response, authorities are placing 1,600 biscuit-shaped vaccine baits across 80 sites within a 10-kilometer radius covering Kurume, Hirokawa, and Yame over three days. Officials urge residents to avoid unnecessary entry into these areas and not to remove the baits.
