Historian Kurayoshi Takara, emeritus professor at the University of the Ryukyus, received the Grand Prize for his work in restoring Shuri Castle\u2019s main hall, destroyed during WWII and again in a 2019 fire. He highlighted the Ryukyu Kingdom\u2019s centuries of cultural exchange across Asia, with Shuri Castle as its symbol.
