At a ceremony in Hakata, Bureau Director Kenya Ozawa said he hopes the designation will raise the brand value and visibility of Fukuoka sake, driving consumer demand and sales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The designation applies to sake brewed in Fukuoka using domestically grown rice and koji, with water sourced within the prefecture. According to the bureau, Fukuoka sake is noted for its rich umami and clean finish, developed in harmony with the region\u2019s flavorful cuisine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tetsuo Yamaguchi, chair of the Fukuoka Sake Brewers Association, welcomed the recognition but emphasized it as a starting point. He highlighted the potential for stronger exports, especially to European markets where GI labeling is well established.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The GI system, launched in 2015, allows registered products to display an official mark as a sign of certified quality.
