The 18-ton vessel, named ZERO-E Kurose, combines hydrogen fuel cells with lithium-ion batteries to achieve up to two days of operation per full charge. The trial, running until February 2026, aims to identify optimal power and operating conditions by comparing data with conventional diesel vessels. The consortium also includes the Marine Fisheries Systems Association and the Japan Fisheries Research and Education Agency.
