About 130 officials, company representatives, and residents attended the event at Island City Central Park. Mayor Soichiro Takashima highlighted the district\u2019s economic role in Kyushu, noting that it now has around <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">14,900 residents and 280 businesses (Jan 2024)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Construction of the 400-hectare island began in 1994 with a total cost of \u00a5394 billion, featuring residential and industrial zones.
