The shop, branded \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CostGo<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d is the first in Kyushu and the eighth nationwide. Unlike Costco, it does not require membership or an annual fee. Prices are generally 20% to 30% higher than Costco\u2019s standard pricing, but products are sold in single or reduced portions, such as individual muffins. Store representatives said the concept targets customers without cars, those living far from Costco warehouses, and smaller households. Shoppers interviewed said the convenience of buying only what they need outweighed the higher cost.
