The project would connect Kitakyushu\u2019s Kokurakita Ward and Hikoshima in Shimonoseki via an approximately eight-kilometer route, including a 2.2-kilometer suspension bridge over the Kanmon Strait. The decision followed formal urban planning approval by Kitakyushu City and Yamaguchi Prefecture last month. With construction costs expected to exceed the initial estimate of up to \u00a5350 billion due to rising expenses, the panel will review funding sources, construction methods, and possible toll levels.
