The awards, organized by Tokyo-based Shiitake Creative, selected winners following on-site evaluations emphasizing inclusivity, sustainability, and cultural value. Ohana operates within the former residence of the Tachibana clan, a feudal lord family with more than 400 years of history, and is the only lodging in Japan located within a nationally designated scenic property. Judges highlighted its preservation of cultural heritage, multilingual visitor support, and close ties with local crafts and experiences. A 2025 renovation added universal and multi-generational rooms to improve accessibility. The award ceremony will be held on February 12 in Tokyo.
