The new station will sit between Chihaya and Hakozaki on the Kagoshima Line, beside the former Kyushu University Hakozaki campus redevelopment. Passengers who register in advance will be able to pass through without tapping an IC card. JR Kyushu says internal tests have shown sufficient accuracy and response speed, and it also plans to introduce the technology at Hakata Station.
